Message from DanceHE Chair, Fiona Bannon, about upcoming events

Good Morning DanceHE

After a strong DanceHE  presence at the World Dance Alliance Summit there is a considerable amount of new business to share.
I will write an overview of the event  in the next few days, add further detail to our members area on the dancehe.org.uk website and report on further developments in the AGM in September.

With this in mind can we all continue to spread the word that the DanceHE community are talking on this jisclist.

I appreciate that many of us will take annual leave  over the next few weeks  so wanted to drop a few dates into your diaries for future reference  and before more ‘out of office’ notifications  quite rightly click into place.

1.  DanceHE  AGM – 17th September  ( 11.30- 1pm)  to be held at Independent Dance  (Siobhan Davies Studios, 85 St George’s Rd. Closest Tube, Elephant and Castle,http://www.independentdance.co.uk/who/where/find-us/)

We have arranged the AGM to take place ahead of the Roundtable Event that  Independent Dance are running in the afternoon entitled,  ‘Artists in academia: conflicts and contributions.’

IN PLANNING – TO BE CONFIRMED

2.  Joint DanceHE, SCUDD and NAMHE  Symposium  18th October, 2014.  Venue to be confirmed, it will be in London.

This  event is  ‘in planning’  but I wanted to alert you to the date for safe keeping.
Our aim is to address shared agendas including discipline identity and resilience, employability, entry level qualifications, changes to A level study, QAA, mixed mode career tracks, digital shifts in curriculum,  etc.

3. DanceHE Symposium     9th  April, DMU, Leicester

Early planning stages, I will be in touch with more detail in the near future.

Our first full meeting of DanceHE  for a number of years, I hope as many colleagues as possible will be able to join us to debate shared practice, our similarities and differences.
It will be an opportunity to discuss the maturing fortunes of Dance in HE in the UK and identify ways that our network can support and represent  Dance across HE and beyond.

 best wishes as ever
