CfP: CHOREOLOGICA The Journal of the European Association of Dance Historians

We are delighted to announce that, as from Autumn 2015, our new look journal will be published by Dance Books. We are seeking submissions for the first issue; topics should relate to European dance practices, past and present, and may include (but are not limited to):

The dance cultures and economies of the European Renaissance; the modernisation of ballet; divergent modern dance practices; dance and music; dance imperialism; the ideology of ‘folk’; dance and changing national/ethnic identities; dance and theatre; the impact of European cultural discourses; dance training models and pedagogical traditions; dance and the literary text; arts funding policies and practices; American/European exchange and hybridity; challenging traditional historical narratives; dance notation and reconstructing ‘lost’ dances; social and popular dance cultures; the notion of a European arts/dance identity. 

Submission Guidelines

  1. Abstracts/Proposals: 300 words (please submit your name and contact details in a separate file)
  2. All text to be submitted as Word documents (not PDF)
  3. Abstract Submission deadline: Monday 1st June 2015
  4. Completed articles (5000-6000 words) will be due 1st September 2015
  5. Contributors are responsible for ensuring that submissions and final articles adhere to the Oxford Style Guide as set out in New Hart’s Rules
  6. Copyright for any visual material is the responsibility of the contributor
  7. Publication is subject to becoming a Member of EADH: membership fee is currently £30 per annum and includes two issues of Choreologica per year plus discounts on Eadh conferences and events
