Senior Lecturer in Choreography and Dance

£38,511 to £45,954 per annum
The BA Choreography and Dance is one of our longest running degree programmes within the department of Performing arts. The department seeks to make an appointment to support the delivery of its integrated practical, creative and critical/contextual strands. The post holder will be a dynamic dance artist/ teacher and practical scholar able to teach critical/ contextual perspectives in relation to dance and performance practices. The post holder will be required to contribute across the curriculum, with specialisms in interdisciplinary choreography, collaborative creative practices, and/or improvisation, alongside contemporary dance techniques and movement analysis. The position contributes mainly to teaching within the BA Choreography and Dance programme and some delivery into the new BA Musical Theatre where you will be expected to lead on the development of physical skills.
The BA Choreography and Dance programme strives to develop the abilities of students as innovative and creative dance practitioners. We work closely with the professional field to embed critical awareness and engagement through a range of interventions and applications. You will be expected to contribute relevant and innovative perspectives on teaching and learning practices. This position requires a strong engagement with the dance industry and an on-going contribution to the culture of the department and to the wider field through research, artistic practice and knowledge exchange.
You will be expected to take on day-to-day administrative and programme leading responsibilities as appropriate.
