International Symposium on Practice-as-Research (ISPaR)
“Controversies, Challenges, Conceptualisations: East-West Perspectives”
The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is delighted to announce that its inaugural International Symposium on Practice-as-Research (ISPaR): “Controversies, Challenges, Conceptualisations: East-West Perspectives” will be held from 4-6 December, 2017 (Monday to Wednesday).
The symposium aims to bring together arts practitioners, thinkers, researchers and leaders in the field to explore ways that Practice-as-Research can contribute to enhancing performance and education outcomes. We would like to invite you to join us and take part in a broad range of stimulating discussions, presentations, debates and embodied explorations that seek to identify ways to advance this bourgeoning and innovative field of study in the performing and technical arts. Enjoy being situated in an environment that mirrors Hong Kong itself, a confluence of the east and west, each with its rich cultural traditions and artistic practices. Reflect and inquire into how diverse cultural contexts can influence artistic processes and products as you share your epistemologies of practice.
The Call for Proposals will be open in late May 2017. We welcome proposals from anyone with a background or interest in Practice-as-Research in the performing, technical, and creative arts.
We warmly welcome you to this inaugural event and invite you to keep your diaries free to join us in Hong Kong from the 4-6 December, 2017. We look forward to seeing you!
