Title:                       Artistic Director of Ballet Professional Option

Contract Type:   Fixed-Term (September 2014 – July 2015)

Salary:                    Negotiable

Location:               London Studio Centre, North Finchley

London Studio Centre is an internationally recognised Higher Education college based at artsdepot in North Finchley.  LSC prides itself on training excellent dancers, singers and actors – with students specialising in classical ballet, contemporary dance, jazz dance and music theatre – but also in producing graduates who have formed their own companies and established themselves as choreographers, teachers and directors.  LSC’s alumni are working worldwide with dance companies, in musicals and mainstream theatre from the West End to Broadway, in television, film and commercial dance.

London Studio Centre has undergone a number of recent changes, most notably moving to North Finchley to create a unique collaborative partnership with artsdepot.  The college now wishes to recruit an artistic director of the final year ballet option who is able to contribute to the practical training in the context of an HE performing arts environment.

London Studio Centre is interested in developing classical ballet in a modern context that reflects the ethos and diversity of its provision.  It is looking for a suitably qualified individual with significant professional and teaching experience to realise this new direction.

The position would include teaching daily ballet class and associated disciplines, and touring: being responsible for initiating and developing a programme of ballet, including sourcing and working with choreographers, to showcase the final year students in a range of different venues (approximately 8-14 performances across the UK).  The position would also be responsible for the training and development of the final year ballet students.

An understanding and experience of Higher Education would be an advantage, as would a proactive approach to continuing professional development.
