DANSE ELARGIE is an international competition open to artists of all disciplines (dance, theatre, music, visual arts, architecture, design …) and all ages. If f you want to present an original proposition on the stage of Théâtre de la Ville, Paris, for ten minutes (maximum) and with three people (minimum) apply by March 5th. The competition will take place on June 14 and 15, 2014, at Théâtre de la Ville in Paris.

In 2010, Boris Charmatz, director of Musée de la danse, and Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota, director of Théâtre de la Ville, imagine something new: the competition Danse Elargie.

In 2014, after two successful events in 2010 and 2012, and in continued partnership with the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, the 3rd edition of Danse Elargie will take place on June 14 and 15, 2014 at Théâtre de la Ville. Among the ten projects selected on the first day, four prizes will be awarded by an international jury of artists, and a jury of audience members.

«Using the pretext of a competition, Danse Elargie is more a kind of happening… For me the first day is often the most intense. Not to know what is going to happen, to observe how the twenty artists’ teams fill and divide the space, the cold and hot sweat. It’s as if the prizes, the follow-up with the artists after the event, the presentation of their work at Théâtre de la Ville, the residencies at Musée de la danse, are necessary, logical and strong next steps, but the crazy collective gesture happens that first day when the projects are presented on stage without a safety net…» Boris Charmatz
