Rachel Farrer is a lecturer in Dance at University of Bedfordshire where she contributes to both the BA (hons) Dance and Professional Practice and BA (hons) Performing Arts. Previously she has worked as a visiting lecturer at De Montfort University and University of Lincoln, while undertaking freelance projects with organisations including Dance4, World Event Young Artists and Made by Katie Green. Rachel has worked as a performer in the UK and Scandinavia and continues to engage in the current dance scene, regularly attending festivals and workshops to inform her teaching. She is currently undertaking her PhD, researching tacit aspects of the independent dancers engagement with choreography. This is a practice led research project that involves working with professional dancers and choreographers to gain a deeper understanding of their practice. Her research has so far been published in Research in Dance Education and she has been invited to present papers at several international conferences this year.
