With thanks to, Professor Christy Adair (York St John University) and Professor Ramsay Burt (De Montfort University)we are pleased to share ‘British Dance Black Routes’. The document is drawn from their recent research project that tackled the absence in terms of dance history of the contributions made by Black British Dance Artists. In their introductory commentary they state
‘One of the aims of the British Dance and the African Diaspora research project is to write Black British dance artists and their legacies back into history. We highlight the diversity of dance styles and the rich contribution the many artists, featured in the exhibition British dance: Black routes, have made to British dance, bringing together a range of thematically organised material.’
