I am a dance lecturer currently based in the School of Arts at the University of Northampton. My teaching practice encompasses choreographic processes, improvisation, dance history, employability and professional contexts, screendance and dance in education and community (specialising in inclusive practice). I have experience teaching on a range of dance and performance degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate level. My current research focuses on the use of technology in digital dance performance and dance pedagogy. My digital dance research questions the nature of somatic experience when our embodiment is extended to include technological addenda, such as virtual bodies and digital projections, in performance. My pedagogical research is similarly focused on technology, exploring the use of social media applications as a tool for blended learning. I am also a choreographer, working in collaboration with other dancers, performers and artists on a variety of dance theatre, screen based and multimedia works. I am currently Associate Choreographer with Playgrounds Dance Company. More information can be found on my website www.kellylouisepreece.com and on my online c.v. .
