Call for editorial assistant(s) for Choreographic Practices

As co-editors of Choreographic Practices, Prof Jane Bacon and I are looking to find one or two new assistant editors. Our current assistant editor, Coutney Hopf, has been wonderful but now has her own book to complete and so is moving on.

The role is voluntary and includes:

  • Laising with the editors/guest editors in the selection of articles and curation of the journal
  • Maintaining clear records
  • Good communication with the authors, peer reviewers and our support team at Intellect press
  • Understanding the requirements of the publishers to ensure materials are prepared appropriately.

If you aren’t familiar with the journal do take a look online:

As a peer reviewed journal Choreographic Practices provides a space for disseminating choreographic practices, critical inquiry and debate. Serving the needs of students, teachers, academics and practitioners in dance (and the related fields of theatre, live art, video/media, and performance), the journal operates from the principle that dance embodies ideas and can be productively enlivened when considered as a mode of critical and creative discourse. This journal seeks to engender dynamic relationships between theory and practice, choreographer and scholar, such that these distinctions may be shifted and traversed.

We publish twice yearly and include both established and new writers and have an editorial board that is made up of a leading group of international researchers. As such working on the journal is a great opportunity to learn how journal publishing works, network with dancers and writers from across the world, and help shape a leading journal for artistic research in dance.

This is a great role and career development opportunity for a research candidate or emerging scholar (in dance or a related field). It can be done from anywhere in the world as communications can be undertaken remotely but needs good written English, great organisational skills, and to access skype and dropbox. The hours required vary –  between 1 to 4 hours per week depending what stage we are in the production cycle – and can be arranged at time to suit other commitments.
